Also this week, a township native is gearing up to open a nearby general store, the county’s former emergency services director stands trial, plus students and alumni are urging Haverford College to protect free speech after it settled a recent lawsuit.

Residents want more communal spaces and safer streetscapes

An indoor farmers market, a multi-vendor marketplace, a movie theater, and a bakery are among the businesses residents most want to see open in the township, according to the latest consumer survey conducted by Discover Haverford.

The biannual survey also shows that residents want more family-friendly businesses, communal spaces, and revitalized streetscapes to make shopping more accessible.

Discover Haverford uses the data to help recruit businesses and inform potential small business owners about what’s most in demand. That was the case with Moore Books, which opened two years ago on West Eagle Road.

The Inquirer’s Denali Sagner digs into the data and what respondents said they most want right now.
